Polycarbonate was the first plastic hi index lens and still has one of the highest index ratings (1.59).All the advantages of hi index are included with every polycarbonate lens at no additional charge. Originally used primarily for industrial safety glasses, polycarbonate is now used for children, sports enthusiasts,anyone requesting greater impact resistance in their lenses and for rimless frames.
